With Secrecy and Despatch - Judy Watson, Dale Harding, Gordon Bennett and Vernon Ah Kee

The unacknowledged histories of frontier violence and genocide are explored in a major new international exhibition at the Campbelltown Arts Centre. With a focus on the deterioration of relations between British settlers and indigenous peoples, this exhibition traces the beginning of a long and bloody history which begins with Governor Macquarie, April 17, 1816. This bicentennial commemoration of the government authorised massacres carried out by the British miilitary in the 1800's. The show not only focuses on the history of colonial brutality, dispossesion and cultural conflict within Australia, but also draws a comparison with the similar histories in Canada. Featuring newly commissioned artworks by Australian artists; Milani Artists, Vernon Ah Kee and Dale Harding.

Existing artworks featured are by Milani Artists: Gordon Bennett and Judy Watson.

The exhibition opens Friday April 8, 7pm at Campbelltown Arts Centre, and a symposium will take place on Saturday 9 April, at 930am. 

The Appin Massacre Memorial will take place on Sunday April 17, at 11am at Cataract Dam, on its 200th anniversary, hosted by the Winga Myamly Reconciliaction Group.
