Gemma Smith with feature in the upcoming show at Sydney's artspace. Her work features in a new show curated by Alexie Glass-Kantor and Talia Linz. This exhibtion features a cross-section of artists of different practices, with a focus on abstraction of the visual, auditory as well as the performative bent.

Bonita Ely: Ku-ring-gai pH - Art + Science, Manly Gallery

A recent collaboration between Bonita Ely and scientist Karen Privat will be on display at Manly Gallery as part of 'Ku-ring-gai pH - Art + Science'. Opening tonight at 6pm, the exhibition features a series of collaborative installations inspired by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, NSW that highlights connections between the two fields. Her Divine Holiness Pope Alice will make a ceremonial appearance as part of the opening of 'New World Order' at Casula Powerhouse tonight at 6pm. The exhibition brings together a number of works that explore alternative theories and readings of events in a post-internet era. JUDY WATSON: 'TOW ROW' 2016 UNVEILED, GALLERY OF MODERN ART

Judy Watson's new public sculpture 'tow row' 2016 has been unveiled outside the Gallery of Modern Art as part of celebrations for GOMA's tenth birthday. The work features as part of 'Sugar Spin', an ambitious and large-scale exhibition of contemporary works from the QAGOMA collection, organised in conjunction with the broader program of celebrations.

The National 2017

 In 2017 the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Carriageworks and Museum of Contemporary Art will present The National: New Australian Art. The National will showcase contemporary Australian art and includes new work by Khadim Ali, Gordon Bennett, Richard Bell, Dale Harding, Gordon Hookey, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Khaled Sabsabi and Jemima Wyman. The National opens 30 March 2017.

Sandra Selig's heart of the air you can hear (2011) and a selection of works from the Universes series (2006-) are currently on display at the McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery, Langwarrin VIC. Curated by Janine Burke the exhibition 'Human / Animal / Artist: Art Inspired by Animals' examines the relationship between contemporary artists practice from Australia and overseas to the structures and behaviours created by different animals.

KHALED SABSABI: Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016

Khaled Sabsabi's work features as part of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2016. Kochi-Muziris is the largest contemporary art Biennial in South Asia. The 2016 edition is  curated by Sudarshan Shetty. Titled 'Forming in the pupil of an eye', Shetty's curatorial vision draws from mythical references to India as the "land of seven rivers". Opening 12th December 2016 the exhibition will run until 29 March 2017.

KHADIM ALI: SHORTLISTED FOR NSW VISUAL ARTS FELLOWSHIP

Khadim Ali has been shortlisted for the 2017 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship. The recipient will be announced on December 1 and the prize includes $30,000, an acquisitive Artbank commission up to $20,000 and a residency at a NSW regional gallery. Read more
