Helga Groves: Helsinki residency

Helga Groves undertook a three month studio residency on Suomenlinna Island, Helsinki from August - September 2010. The Suomenlinna Island studio is part of the Helsinki International Artist Program (HIAP). 2010 was the first year the residency was available to Australian artists through the Australia Council for the Arts skills and development grant program. Following on from this residency, Helga has produced a body of work that she will exhibit at Milani Gallery later this month.

PETER KENNEDY: LIGHT YEARS

Peter Kennedy's work will be the subject of a major, upcoming solo exhibition at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane. Light Years 1970-1 will restage works from three solo shows the artist mounted in 1970 and 1971, which contained pioneering examples of installation, light, performance, and sound work. A solo exhibition by Rosslynd Piggott opens at the TarraWarra Museum of Art, Victoria in April. Vernon Ah Kee: Tall Man

Vernon Ah Kee's Tall Man is being exhibited at The Australian Experimental Art Foundation, Adelaide from 23 February - 26 March 2011. The four-channel video installation is being shown in association with the Adelaide Film Festival.

Sandra Selig has made a new site specific installation for the exhibition Networks (cells & silos) at the Monash University Museum of Art. Curated by Geraldine Barlow, Networks (cells & silos) explores connections between artistic representations of networks; patterns and structures found in nature; and the rapidly evolving field of network science, communications and human relations. Selig was commissioned to make a new thread installation for the exhibition, entitled heart of the air you can hear.

Works by Vernon Ah Kee and Raquel Ormella feature in an exhibition of contemporary Australian drawing, to open shortly at the National Art School, Sydney.
