Work by Vivienne Binns and Ian Burn will be included in the three site exhibition Painting Amongst Other Things, at the ANCA Gallery venue in Canberra. The exhibition, curated by Oscar Capezio, showcases leading contemporary artists from Australia and New Zealand currently work through painting, in the wake of conceptual art, all critically seeking an expansion of the structures of painting. The exhibition restages 'The Field', a landmark exhibition showcasing conceptualism and abstraction, on it's fiftieth anniversary. The exhibition opens 27 April and runs until 26 August 2018. Works by Ian Burn, Bonita Ely and Tim Johnson have been included in 'in site: process, performance, documentation' at the UQ Art Museum. The exhibition juxtaposes Australian experimental art practice from the 1960s and 1970s with more recent artworks that explore related ideas. The exhibition opens on 9 March to 5 August 2018. The exhibition considers reductionist techniques—repetition, limited or monochrome colour, seriality and plain-spoken materials—drawing on the Museum's collection to elaborate on this theme. 'Turning on Burn: A Reflective Conversation', a symposium exploring the work of Australian conceptual artist Ian Burn will be presented at VCA Art School Auditorium Wednesday 4 May 2016. The first session runs from 1:30 until 3:15pm and includes presentations by Ann Stephen, David Homewood, Amelia Winata, Nic Tammens, Victoria Perin. The second session runs from 3:45 until 5:15 and features presentions by Toby JUliff, Asta Rowe, David Wlazlo and Rex Butler.
