Milani Gallery will be closed from 21 December 2014 and will reopen on 27 January 2015. We will be contactable via email or by appointment during this period. Our first exhibition for 2015 will recent work by multidisiplinary artist collective Chicks on Speed, opening in early February. JON CATTAPAN: VELOCITY, ANU DRILL HALL GALLERY, CANBERRA
Jon Cattapan features as part of 'Velocity', a group exhibition at the Australian National University's Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra. The exhibition runs until 19 December and considers the influence of speed and the dehumanising effect of living in cities. Read more.
NATALYA HUGHES: CARLTON PROJECT SPACE, SYDNEY
Natalya Hughes presents a suite of new gouache and screen print works as part of a dual exhibition with LA-based Jill Daves. The exhibition opens Thursday 27 November at the University of Technology Sydney's Carlton Project space and runs until Saturday 13 December. Read more.
TAKING IT ALL AWAY, MCA COLLECTION: MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART AUSTRALIA
Taking it all away presents works drawn from the Museum of Contemporary Art Collection that explore the different effects of erasure, abstraction and the social impact of art. Featuring work by Gordon Bennett, Christian Capurro, Robert Hunter and Stuart Ringholt, the exhibition considers shared ideals and utopias, as well as art's agency in society.
KHALED SABSABI: EXPERIMENTA RECHARGE, 6TH INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF MEDIA ART
Khaled Sabsabi and his 2014 work 70,000 Veils have been selected as part of the sixth Experimenta Biennial, opening 28 November at RMIT Gallery Melbourne. Sabsabi's work 70,000 Veils is a 100 channel digital video installation which utilises 3D technology to visualise an archive of tens of thousands of images individually captured by Sabsabi.
KHALED SABSABI: WINNER OF 2014 FISHER'S GHOST ART AWARD
Khaled Sabsabi has been awarded the 2014 Fisher's Ghost Art Award for his work Wonderland 2014. Held annually as part of Campbelltown's Festival of Fisher's Ghost, the acquisitive award celebrates its 52nd year, with the winning work entering the Campbelltown Arts Centre's permanent collection. POP TO POPISM: ART GALLERY OF NEW SOUTH WALES
The work of Vivienne Binns and Gareth Sansom features as part of the Art Gallery of New South Wales exhibition 'Pop to popism', a wide-ranging survey on the influence of a pop aesthetic. Featuring over 200 works, the exhibition opens this Saturday 1 November, running through to 1 March 2015. Read more.
GARETH SANSOM: NATIONAL GALLERY OF AUSTRALIA VIDEO FEATURE
Gareth Sansom and his 2010 work Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is featured as part of a series of videos created by the National Gallery of Australia. Acquired in 2011, the work balances art historical references with pop culture, but also imparts a personal perspective from Sansom's life. View the video.
HDH POPE ALICE CANONISATION: NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA
In 1974 Alice Jitterbug visited the National Gallery of Victoria and was later that evening mistaken for Germaine Greer. It was a courageous act in a suppressive era in which transvestitism could incur the wrath of the Law and strong religious prejudice. This year HDH Pope Alice announced Alice Jitterbug's worthiness for sainthood and inclusion in the Cosmic Pantheon of Hallowed Eternals.
VERNON AH KEE: 15 ARTISTS, REDCLIFFE CITY ART GALLERY
Vernon Ah Kee has been selected as the winning entry in '15 Artists', an annual acquisitive prize at the Redcliffe City Art Gallery. Ah Kee won the prize with two works on paper from his Unwritten series. The works are on display until 6 December 2014. Read more
