'My Country: Contemporary Art from Black Australia' opens tomorrow Friday 28 March at Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tamaki. The exhibition presents over 100 works by over 40 artists, including Gordon Bennett, Vernon Ah Kee, Richard Bell, Judy Watson and Gordon Hookey. My Country showcases the breadth of recent work by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, and the connections the artists have with their land and nation. 'Four Rooms', a multi-sensory exhibition curated by Troy-Anthony Baylis opens today as part of the Adelaide Festival. Albers Foundation Residency
Gordon Hookey has been awarded a prestigious Albers Foundation Residency by the Australia Council. Hookey will travel to the United States later this year to undertake the residency at the Connecticut studio and home of renowned artist and colour theorist Josef Albers (1888 - 1976).
