'Promises', a new work by Daniel McKewen, features in the touring exhibition 'Creative Accounting'. Curated by Holly Williams in conjunction with Hawkesbury Regional Gallery and toured by Museums & Galleries of NSW, 'Creative Accounting' considers the depiction of money in art and its increasing abstraction in the contemporary era.

Vivienne Binns and Madonna Staunton feature as part of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art's upcoming exhibition 'Painting. More Painting'. Providing an overview of contemporary Australian painting, the exhibition considers the medium's resurgence in the last decade and profiles key late, mid and emerging practitioners in an evolving, two part display. The exhibition opens 30 July and runs until 25 September.

The University of Queensland Art Museum celebrates its 40th year with the exhibition 'Beyond the tower: 40 years and counting', profiling the museum's significant collection. Curated by Director Campbell Gray and Curator Samantha Littley, the exhibition includes work by Madonna Staunton, Gordon Bennett, Eugene Carchesio, Jon Cattapan, Gordon Hookey, Khadim Ali, Richard Bell, Aleks Danko, Judy Watson, Luke Roberts, and Tim Johnson.

GORDON BENNETT & KHALED SABSABI: YINCHUAN BIENNALE

Work by Gordon Bennett and Khaled Sabsabi features as part of the first Yinchuan Biennale, opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan on 9 September. Curated by Bose Krishnamachari, the Biennale will included 74 artists from 33 countries and is structured by the theme 'For an Image, Faster Than Light'. The Biennale runs until 18 December. Vernon Ah Kee will present the inaugural Institute of Modern Art Courtyard Commission from 30 July in the IMA's Berwick Street entry courtyard. Building on Ah Kee's ongoing use of text and language in his art, he will present a monumental text-based work informed by the direct effect of propaganda posters and advertising imagery, whilst creating abstract shapes through a play with kerning and positioning.

The Institute of Modern Art Brisbane, KickArts and Cairns Indigenous Art Fair present the latest iteration of Richard Bell's Embassy project. Connecting with the establishment of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy on the lawns of Parliament House Canberra in 1972, Bell's Embassy is a large military-style tent and a series of painted placards that recall the original tent embassy's form and function as a site for protest and activism.
