The River Project
Bonita Ely will be exhibiting work as part of The River Project at Campbelltown Arts Centre, opening later this month. The River Project considers the Upper Georges River that runs through South West Sydney within the larger context of river systems of Asia and the Pacific by bringing together artists from within Australia and the region whose work explores river systems. Basil Sellers Art Prize
Vernon Ah Kee and Gareth Sansom are finalists in the 2010 Basil Sellers Art Prize. The biennial, invitational only prize of $100 000 is awarded to single artwork selected from an exhibition of finalists' work, held at the Ian Potter Museum of Art, University of Melbourne, The Basil Sellers Art Prize recognises artists whose work engages with the many themes within sport, past an present, to contribute to critical reflection on all forms of sport and sporting culture within Australia. TarraWarra Contemporary 2010
Gareth Sansom has been selected for this years TarraWarra Museum of Art Biennial, which opens to the public on August 6. Eight art industry professionals were invited to nominate one artist each for inclusion in this year's exhibition, which runs until 24 October. TWMA Contemporary 2010 will showcase significant directions, acknowledge Australian talent and explore new ideas and practice in contemporary Australian art. Bonita Ely and Raquel Ormella will exhibit work in an upcoming exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney. In the balance: art for a changing world features work by Australian and international artists that respond to ecological concerns.
Recent Australian Women's Art from the QUT Collection
Works by Natalya Hughes and Madonna Staunton will be exhibited as part of A Generosity of Spirit, an exhibition of recent Australian women's art from the QUT collection. The works in the exhibition have all been acquired through the Betty Quelhurst Fund, an endowment established in 2005 with the specific purpose of acquiring works by living Australian female artists. Multiple Choice
Works by Aleks Danko will be on display at the Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane from next month as part of Multiple Choice. The exhibition highlights the gallery's diverse collection of artists' multiples. Works by other artists including Robert Macpherson, Damien Hirst and Takashi Murakami will also be featured. Artspace has just released a significant publication on the work of Raquel Ormella following her exhibition last October.
