Richard Bell's project at the Venice Biennale as part of PERSONAL STRUCTURES - Identities, hosted by the European Cultrual Centre, will begin this week at the Giardini Della Marinaressa in Venice. RICHARD BELL: 'DREDGING UP THE PAST' AT GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY

Richard Bell's solo exhibition 'Dredging Up the Past' opens at Gertrude Contemporary this week. The exhibition features the artist's most recent body of work, which seeks to subvert Australian ideology and draw on Western painting tropes to highlight the prejudices of European culture and its oppression of indigneous Australians. The exhibition runs from 2 February 2018 to 10 March 2018.

RICHARD BELL: PANEL DISCUSSION, 'THE NATIONAL', CARRIAGEWORKS

This Saturday 1 April, Richard Bell will introduce a screening of Basically Black, a television pilot which was made by ABC Television in 1973 following Basically Blacks theatrical success at Nimrod Theatre. Basically Black created by the National Black Theatre was a revue of satirical and political sketches about Indigenous Australia, which had extraordinary social impact when it was premiered in 1972.

THE NATIONAL 2017: WEBSITE GOES LIVES

'The National' 2017 has launched its website dedicated to its upcoming triennial exhibition, profiling the artists featured including Khadim Ali, Richard Bell, Gordon Bennett, Dale Harding, Gordon Hookey, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Khaled Sabsabi, and Jemima Wyman. The site also includes essays by the exhibition curators providing an introduction to the exhibition concept.

The National 2017

 In 2017 the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Carriageworks and Museum of Contemporary Art will present The National: New Australian Art. The National will showcase contemporary Australian art and includes new work by Khadim Ali, Gordon Bennett, Richard Bell, Dale Harding, Gordon Hookey, Tom Nicholson, Raquel Ormella, Khaled Sabsabi and Jemima Wyman. The National opens 30 March 2017.

RICHARD BELL: EMBASSY, CAIRNS INDIGENOUS ART FAIR

The Institute of Modern Art Brisbane, KickArts and Cairns Indigenous Art Fair present the latest iteration of Richard Bell's Embassy project. Connecting with the establishment of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy on the lawns of Parliament House Canberra in 1972, Bell's Embassy is a large military-style tent and a series of painted placards that recall the original tent embassy's form and function as a site for protest and activism.

Richard Bell: Trigger Points, The Palitz Gallery, Syracuse University NY

Richard Bell's Scratch as Aussie 2008 will be on display as part of the exhibition 'Trigger Points'. Curated by Heather Galbraith the exhibition explores the nature of memory. SONSBEEK is returning to the scene of international contemporary arts with SONSBEEK ’16: transACTION. The main venues for the exhibition are Park Sonsbeek, Museum Arnhem and the city of Arnhem. SONSBEEK ’16 is compiled by curatorial collective ruangrupa (Jakarta, Indonesia), whose approach to art and social themes stems from a spatial and personal perspective.

RICHARD BELL: Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia (CACSA), Adelaide

'Embassy: Richard Bell + Emory Douglas' opens at CACSA 27 February and runs until 27 March 2016.

The project features an exhibition of major works by Bell and Douglas including a newly commissioned mural completed by Bell with assistance from AC Arts and Uni SA students. The mural will be on display at the TAFE SA Morphett St facade until 31 August 2016.

A symposium to accompany Bell Invites at the Stedelijk SMBA will be held at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam on Saturday February 6. Richard Bell: BELL invites, STEDELIJK SMBA, Amsterdam

Richard Bell presents 'BELL invites', an exhibition and symposium at STEDELIJK SMBA featuring key works and collaborations with Emory Douglas, alongside local artists brought together by Aruna Vermeulen, director of the HipHopHuis, including painter Brian Elstak, designer Farida Sedoc (Hosselaer), and dancers Ritzah Statia and 020 Crew. 'BELL invites' aims to challenge and expands existing notions of performance art.

RICHARD BELL: BIENNALE OF SYDNEY

Richard Bell has been annouced as part of the first group of artists selected to particpate in the 20th Biennale of Sydney, opening 18 March 2016. Curated by Stephanie Rosenthal and titled 'The Future is Already Here - It's Just Not Evenly Distributed', the exhibition will span seven venues conceived as 'embassies of thought'. Bell will present a site specific reconfiguration of his major work Embassy (2013-ongoing) at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA).

Tom Nicholson and Richard Bell will represent Australia at the 16th Jakarta Biennale, running from 14 November 2015 until 17 January 2016. Richard Bell will present his major work Embassy (2013-ongoing) as part of the the sixth edition of the renowned Performa Biennial, to take place 1-22 November 2015. Celebrating its tenth annivesary, Performa was established in 2004 to highlight the significance of perfomance in 20th century art history and provide a platform for artists' performance in the 21st century.

Richard Bell: Imagining Victory

Richard Bell's major solo exhibition Imagining Victory opens 26 June at Artspace, Sydney. Bell's two existing video works Scratch an Aussie (2008) and Broken English (2009) will be shown. RICHARD BELL: LESSONS IN ETIQUETTE AND MANNERS OPENING AT THE MONASH UNIVERSITY MUSEUM OF ART

A solo exhibition of Richard Bell's work entitled Richard Bell: Lessons in Etiquette and Manners will open on February 9th from 3pm - 5pm at the Monash University Museum of Art. Richard Bell in Edge of Elsewhere

Richard Bell will exhibit  in the third and final installment of Edge of Elsewhere, opening at Campbelltown Arts Centre as part of the Sydney Festival. Bell will present an installation of films and documentation surrounding the protests against the 1982 Commonwealth Games. The works include a forum on January 14 where panel members will discuss if Aborigines as a people are better or worse off than they were in 1982. The exhibition opens on January 13.

Richard Bell at Location One

An exhibition of Richard Bell's work will go on display at Location One, New York in October. Curated by Maura Reily,  Richard Bell: I Am Not Sorry will feature works from the early 1990s through to the present, and will be accompanied by a new publication on Bell's work.  Bell is also the recipient of Location One's International Fellowship for 2009-10. Awarded to an outstanding mid career or established artist by Location One's international committee, Bell will begin the ten month residency in New York this October.
